FAQs
Q: What kind of Bible do you recommend?
A: There are great options out there! For translations, we recommend ones that stick closer to word-for-word (or "literal") translation, such as: NASB, ESV, LSB, KJV, NKJV, HCSB, and NET. We believe the Bible's message can be understood on its own, so study Bibles aren't necessary but can be very helpful! We suggest the MacArthur Study Bible, ESV Study Bible, or Reformation Study Bible, to name a few that are reliable. Q: How do I evaluate a ministry or podcast to know whether it's good? A: Always compare what you see and hear back to the Bible. Do they read Bible verses in context and explain them clearly? Do their claims match or contradict clear commands or prohibitions in the Bible? Do they reject historical interpretations of Scripture without good reasoning? Watch out for popular false claims, including: God speaking to someone directly or giving new revelation, guarantees of physical healing, guarantees of material wealth, descriptions of God that don't match the Bible, etc. Many "Christian" sources are giving way to today's social pressures, including social justice, woke-ism, and the LGBT agenda (just to name a few), and compromising the pure truth of the Gospel. Q: Where can I go to hear more Bible-based sermons (or podcasts from a biblical worldview)? A: These are some of our recommended sources: Grace to You (John MacArthur sermons, books, Bible studies) www.gty.org RefNet (24/7 broadcast sermons, teaching, music) www.refnet.fm Ligonier Ministries (Reformed source of biblical teaching & educational materials) www.ligonier.org Truth for Life (Alister Begg sermons) www.truthforlife.org Wretched (Todd Friel, ministry of Gospel Partners Media) www.wretched.org and YouTube channel Christian Podcast Community (link here) Striving for Eternity (training ministry, podcasts, books) www.strivingforeternity.org Q: I don't live in the Snoqualmie Valley area, or I'm looking for a Bible-teaching church for a friend/relative. Where should I look? A: You can start here (TMS's "Find a Church"). We welcome you to also contact us and we can make recommendations from our network of connections. Other Resources:
